Tabby Cat Watching Bug: Digitally Recreated Art

My husband and I were at my sister's farm a few weeks ago and I took some pictures of their cats and kittens. The cats  were quite friendly and allowed me to take all the pictures I wanted. This gray and white tabby cat mostly wanted to sleep while I was there but I did get a few good pictures of her. This the "before" picture.

Cat Hiding in Flower Garden

A few weeks ago, we were at my mother/father-in-law's house. I was sitting on the porch with their cat Nikki and snapped this picture.

I was not too keen on recreating this image with an ice chest on one side and the leg of a chair on the other so I came up with some ideas that could work- maybe I could have the cat hiding in a box or under a bed or peeking out of a barn door.

In the end I decided that placing the kitty in a flower garden would work the best. I changed the color of the cat's eyes, and created a digital painting of her in Gimp (a photo editing program). It took awhile to get all the flowers and stems of grass in the right place but I feel good about the end result.

It can also be purchased as a digital background file at Dreamstime.

Red and Yellow Kaleidoscope Flower Design Freebie

Awhile back I was looking through my collection of flower photos wondering what I would ever do with all of them. I opened this one (top photo) up in Gimp (with the background removed).

I applied the kaleidoscope filter and tweaked it a bit and came up with this design. I love the bright, rich colors.

If you like it, you can find it on FreeRangeStock.com It can be used free of charge for commercial or personal use.
